Description

A warm, cozy bread that combines the tangy flavor of sourdough discard with sweet cinnamon and brown sugar.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup sourdough discard
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the egg, vanilla, milk, melted butter, and sourdough discard. Stir until combined.
  5. Fold in the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Pour half the batter into a greased loaf pan, sprinkle some cinnamon sugar, add the rest of the batter, and top with remaining cinnamon sugar.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Let it cool before slicing.

Notes

Don’t overmix to avoid dense bread. Check your oven temperature for consistent baking.
