Description

These heart shaped chocolate chip cookies are simple, fun to make, and perfect for parties or gifts.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • Optional: sprinkles for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out cookies.
  7. Place the cookies on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
  8. Optional: sprinkle with decorations.
  9. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  10. Allow to cool on the baking sheets before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 5 days. To keep them soft, place a slice of bread in the container for one day. For longer storage, freeze the cookies in a sealed freezer bag for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature.
