Description

Quick, easy, and crispy mozzarella sticks that are gooey on the inside and crunchy on the outside, perfect for snacks or party food.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons sea salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 cups Panko
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 12 ounces low moisture mozzarella cheese, cut into pieces (3-inch x ¾ inch) or 12 oz string cheese cut in half
  • Homemade marinara, for dipping
  • 1 quart vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Mix flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in a shallow bowl.
  2. Beat eggs in a separate bowl.
  3. Combine Panko and Italian seasoning in a third bowl.
  4. Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, dip in eggs, and roll in Panko mixture.
  5. Freeze coated sticks for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C).
  7. Fry sticks in batches until golden, about 30 seconds per side.
  8. Drain on paper towels and serve with marinara sauce.

Notes

Dry the cheese well for better coating. Freeze longer for best results and double-coat for extra crunch.
